The Garda Swimming and Lifesaving Club are a Swim Ireland affiliated Club.
We train in a 25 meter swimming pool in the Guinness Bicentenary Centre, Watling Street, Dublin 8 on Tuesday and Friday evenings, from 6pm to 7pm.
Our Tuesday session is run by a highly qualified coach who caters for all standards of ability; from beginner to improver and advanced swimmer. On Fridays our session is open to Club members and their families. We have a qualified instructor on the bank who teaches lifesaving techniques to adults and children. There are two lanes set aside for adults who wish to swim at their leisure.
The Club competes in several different competitive events including; Pool Gala’s at home and abroad, Open Water Swims and Lifesaving Competitions.
During the summer the Club organises two Sea Swims that feature on the Leinster Open Sea calendar.
The Club is also involved in fundraising for Charity events which include our annual Special Olympics Ireland Sea Swim and Polar Plunge. The Polar Plunge is an extremely fun and rewarding event which is held at the 40 Ft, Sandycove, Co Dublin each December.
